SOUTHERN COUNTIES - 2024

Judge  Jay Thorne

It was an honour being asked to judge at Southern Counties for my first CC appointment and I would like to thank all those involved also to those who were kind enough to enter. It was an absolute pleasure to judge our lovely breed and being outside although cold for the time of year gave each dog the opportunity to show its movement. It was especially rewarding seeing my main winners doing so well in the groups, many congratulations to you all. A special thanks to my two stewards for keeping things moving so efficiently, good stewards are critical to any show, and I always appreciate their dedication.

Special Beginners (6/6)
1 Harris’s Febus Hardknot
. 3-year-old pretty girl, a head of good proportions all round that fitted the breed standard nicely. Well-constructed with medium angulation, moves out steadily and very well presented. Would prefer a little more height if critical. Many congratulations with SB GP4
2 Challinor’s Shanlimore Marvin. A nice boy that is still developing but has it all there. Well presented with medium angulation, nice head piece and moved out well once settled.
3 Stephens Aurvandill Freya’s Thyra
PD (2/2)
1 Bamford & Church’s Pafaxen High In The Sky
. A tall boy with good bone and substance, heavier head type than 2nd Still needs to fill his body but that will come with time, medium angulation front and rear, moved out well and obviously enjoying himself.

2 Barber’s Kensesqui Kilimanjaro. Lovely seeing younger people showing and enjoying themselves. A much younger puppy than above and still very much a baby, loved his head markings, nice dark eyes and head medium angulation, moved OK when settled. Keep up the good work!

1 Walters Nevot De Alba De Los Danzantes with Sketrick (Imp Esp)
. I loved this boy from the moment he entered the ring, at just a year old he has a beautiful head with everything I would want in a Pyrenean, super pigment correct eye placement and shape completed by a lovely expression. Good bone and angulation front and rear. Needs some more training to get the best out of him in the ring but moved well when settled and seriously considered for the RCC.
2 Wilcock Dream Of Valyria Daemon Of Mysticelysium At Penellcy (Imp Pol) A lovely boy who has a pleasing head with good pigment. Tall in construction but with a good amount of bone to match. Well-presented and handled,
3 Bamford & Church’s Pafaxen High In The Sky

BVIB and pleased to see him shortlisted in the veteran group.
2 Flounders Ch Sketrick Papagena At Lakamoni (AI) A lovely seven year old bitch that I have placed well in the past, different in type than the above, tall elegant girl with a lovely head, well-constructed with medium angulation front and rear, unfortunately lacking a little enthusiasm on the move today.
