NORTH OF ENGLAND PYRENEAN MOUNTAIN DOG CLUB
01 APR 24
Judge - PAULINE LUXMOORE-BALL
Thank you so much to the committee and the North of England Pyrenean Mountain Dog Club for inviting me to judge the show, I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I do have to note that some of the dogs struggled slightly with the floor and this affected some placings but the weather didn’t allow us to go outside. A few notes for the breed itself, there is a lot of round eyes creeping and some of the flews on dogs are getting rather pendulous, this is a wonderful breed and I would hate to lose type but that said I had some amazing dogs to go over and I was really happy with all of my placings.
VD 3(0)
1. Reilly’s Ch/Esp/Swiss/Ir/Multi/Int Ch. Lisjovia Boris Bear at Darmaror. A
powerful, imposing dog is what the breed standard says and this chap certainly
is, 7 years old, correct head and expression, fit feet, good croup and lovely
overall balance, excellent reach and drive on the move and wasn’t hampered by
the indoor hall or the mats, BD, BVD, BIS & BVIS.
2. Holmes’ Ch. Lisjovia Estevez JW ShCM ShCEx. Another outstanding example of
the breed with again good head and expression, just preferred the overall
movement of 1 today but lovely on the move.
3. Cubello’s Night Owl. Touch more compact than 1 and 2 but decent ground
coverage when settled, nice croup although finer throughout.
PD 1(0)
1. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen High In The Sky. Stood alone but worthy of 1st, good
angulation fore and aft, strong rear and was able to hold his top-line standing
and moving, very promising puppy with a lovely disposition and temperament, BPD
& BPIS.
JD 2(0)
1. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen High In The Sky. Repeat.
2. Wilcock’s Dream of Valyria Daemon of Mysticelysium at Penellcy (imp). 13
months and at the ungangly stage at the moment, didn’t have the overall balance
of 1 but lovely head and expression and with a bit more maturity could come
together.
PGD 2(0)
1. Munson’s Travis Bear Du Pyrdanti for Pyrbern (imp). Correct shaped head,
would have preferred more typical expression but very well muscled and has
balance with a decent croup, moved as a puppy.
2. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen High In The Sky. Just beaten by the maturity of 1,
still trying to hold the top-line but as a puppy competing in a more adult class
but this could have potentially gone either way.
OD 7(2)
1. Holmes’ Lisjovia Sign Of The Times. Handling and presentation of this exhibit
could be better however nicely constructed, good feet, shown in excellent
muscled condition and moved with reach and drive, RBD.
2. Carter’s Jumicar Just An Illusion. Excellent bone and croup, glimpses of
movement, moved well in profile and shown in lovely condition.
3. Kenyon’s Ch. Charibere Simply The Sequel at Kaianna. Again another nice
exhibit, just didn’t move as made but really quite liked this exhibit, I had a
difficult choice in this class because I do think that some of the dogs were
hampered by the flooring but by judging the dogs on the day this is what I would
do.
MPB 1(0)
1. Kennedy’s Gamuvel Patou Valkyrie at Pyrcot (imp). Lovely sweet expression,
immaculately turned out and nice muscling for age, moved lovely in profile.
PB 1(0)
1. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen A Million Dreams. Nice overall balance at this stage
with good angulation, still developing coming to and going away but nice and
steady in profile, BPB & RBPIS.
JB 4(2)
1. McBain’s Polar Light Pride of America (imp USA). Lovely head and expression,
just better overall balance than 2 but left her coat at home, good croup and
excellent shoulder and shown in nicely muscled condition, RBB.
2. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen A Million Dreams. Repeat.
NB 1(0)
1. Newland’s Shanlimore Baby Love. Shown in hard muscled condition, correct
head, eyes and ears with lovely disposition, not as shapely standing.
PGB 4(2)
1. Bamford/Church’s Pafaxen A Million Dreams. Repeat.
2. Newland’s Shanlimore Superstition. Muscled throughout and not too comfortable
in her surroundings but lovely head and expression and nice overall balance,
held herself well.
LB 6(2)
1. Holmes’ Lisjovia Hanky Panky. I really loved this bitch but she just didn’t
get herself up and together in the challenge, understated but lovely overall
balance, nice reach on the move, good croup, head and expression, I certainly
think she’s one to watch and would love to see her outside, BB & RBIS.
2. Carter’s Jumicar Moonstone. Immaculately turned out and good overall balance,
would prefer a touch more typical expression but well handled as well as the
presentation.
3. Flounders’ Kalkasi Just Imperial at Lakamoni. Well muscled and good overall
balance with nice head and expression.
OB 8(3)
1. Asher’s Patablanca Phoenix. Not had the full show makeover but good
angulation fore and aft, moved lovely in profile and well muscled.
2. Wilcock’s Ch. Penellcy She’s Like The Wind. Another balanced dog, just lacked
the condition of 1 but preferred the head and expression and just didn’t match
the movement today although didn’t move as made.
3. Goodwin’s Ch. Lisjovia Adagio avec Montmusique JW. Another nice exhibit with
lovely head and expression, well handled and good bone and again I think would
be better outside.
