North of England Pyrenean Mountain Dog Open Show 10.4.23
Judge  Elizabet A. Caminade-Lavault

Thank you to the organising committee for the invitation to judge your show and for your generous hospitality. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered today and who accepted my decisions with good grace. A big thank you also to my ring stewards, Joe Smith and Bethany Hewart who were most efficient. Due to the inclement weather the show was held indoors and possibly not the best space to appreciate the movement of this wonderful breed. All exhibits had double dewclaws and mouths were correct with either scissor bites or a few level bites. The majority of exhibits “wheeled” their tails on the move.
VD (2,1)
1 Holmes Lisjovia Takahashi JW SHCM 8 years old male in good condition for his age, only showing his years somewhat on the move - moving a little close coming and going and without the purpose of a younger dog. Not quite as well presented as some of the other exhibits.
JD (2)
1 Williams Belshanmish Dark Star 15 months old dog. Preferred the head and overall shape and outline of this boy. He moves well when settled but needs to mature and tighten up in pasterns as he is a little loose coming towards.
2 Roberts Penellcy You Could Be Mine For Davandrey 17 months old dog, stronger in bone than 1 and a little longer in loin. Would prefer a touch more hind angulation. Moves wide coming towards. ND (1) 1 Williams Belshanmish Dark Star (as above)
PGD (2,1)
1 Baverstock’s Kalkasi Just Because JW 19 months old dog presenting a typical outline, substantial but still elegant. He has a lovely head shape and such typical expression. Balanced front and hind angulation as well as correct compact feet. Well presented with correct coat texture. Efficient, powerful profile movement pleased to award him Best Dog and BIS
LD (8,2)
1 Baverstock’s Kalkasi Wicked Spirit 3 years old dog, powerful with typical outline and correct strong head, without coarseness. Good depth of chest and well ribbed back. Powerful hindquarters that he uses well on the move.
2 Carter’s Jumicar Just An Illusion 3 years old, upstanding dog with strong bone. Preferred the head and expression on 1. Would have preferred tighter eyelids. Strong neck. Correct coat texture, well presented. Pleasing profile movement.
3 Challinor’s Shanlimore Marvin 2 years old dog with a well-proportioned body but without the more correct heads of 1 and 2. I would have preferred him to have a stronger underjaw and felt he was a little overdone in skull and stop. Somewhat steep in croup so not quite the topline of 1 and 2. Correct coat texture, well presented.
OD (3)
1 Kenyon & Ward’s Charibere Simply The Sequel At Kaianna JW 2.5 years old dog scored in head and feet in this class. Pleasing eye shape and correct ear set. Strong neck but wouldn’t want any more length to it. Balanced, moderately angulated fore and hindquarters. Very well presented and handled. Pushed hard for Best Dog, pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog.
2 Pollard’s Ch Gillandant Thief Of Hearts At Dewyche 3.5 years old dog with a pleasing, typical outline but preferred the head of 1. Correct neck with moderately angulated forequarters. I would prefer slightly more breadth of chest, although he has good depth of chest and is well ribbed back. Correct coat texture. Well presented. Easy profile movement.
3rd Reilly’s Ch, Swiss Ir. Multi Int Ch. Lisjovia Boris Bear At Darmaror Jw Sh CM SH CEX CW19 6.5 years old dog, I found his body proportions and shape particularly pleasing with balanced fore and hindquarters angulation but found him somewhat heavy in head and preferred the heads of 1st and 2nd. Typical profile movement and well presented and handled.

JB (2)
1 Baverstock’s Kalkasi Star Of The Stage 13 months old bitch with a feminine head and lovely, typical expression. Correct neck but wouldn’t want it any longer. Correct topline with good depth and breadth of chest for her age. Efficient profile movement, just needs to mature and firm up on the out and back. Well presented and handled.
2 Downes’ Belshanmish Ocean Soul 15 months old bitch with pleasing overall proportions but preferred the head and topline of 1. Good forequarter development for her age with balanced front and hind angulation. Topline tends to fall away somewhat steeply over the croup. Needs time to mature and tighten up on the move. Beautifully presented and handled.

PGB (7,2)
1 Baverstock’s Kalkasi Star Of The Stage.
2 Harris’ Febus Hardknott 2 years old with a feminine head and lovely expression. Preferred the depth and breadth of chest on 1. Typical easy, fluid profile movement but somewhat close coming towards and going away. Correct coat texture, well presented and handled. 3 Carter’s Jumicar Moonstone 20 months old bitch with a typical, well-proportioned outline. Preferred the heads on 1 and 2. I would have preferred her to have tighter eyelids. Balanced, moderately angulated front and hind quarters with pleasing typical profile movement but a little close going away. Well presented and handled.
LB (7,3)
1 Bowker & Gibson’s Febus Anapeou JW 18 months old bitch of great size yet still well balanced and elegant. Pleasing outline with well-proportioned head and lovely expression. Correct neck flowing into correct topline and tail set. Forequarters well developed for her age with good depth of chest, well ribbed back. Correct short, compact feet. Free, easy profile movement. Pushed hard for Best Bitch, I just preferred the maturity of the Open Bitch winner. Pleased to award her Reserve Best Bitch.
2 Pollard’s Gillandant Simply The Best 3.5 years old bitch with lots to like about her but she was determined to give her handler a hard time today and unfortunately kept stopping on the move. Feminine head with lovely expression. Correct neck but wouldn’t want any more length to it. Lovely, typical topline with balanced, moderately angulated front and hindquarters. Correct coat, beautifully presented.
3 Asher’s Patablanca Phoenix 4 years old bitch with a well-proportioned outline and feminine head with typical expression. Correct topline and tail set. Would prefer stronger pasterns and tighter, more compact feet.
OB (3,1)
1 Wilcock’s Ch Penellcy She’s Like The Wind 4 years old bitch presenting a typical outline with noble bearing. Lovely feminine head with pleasing, typical thoughtful expression. Correct neck but wouldn’t want any more length to it. Excellent forequarters with good depth and breadth of chest and well ribbed back. Lovely easy and efficient profile movement. Well presented and handled. Pleased to award her Best Bitch, RBIS and BOS.
2 Asher’s Trixylee A Star Is Born 4.5 years old bitch with a feminine head and typical expression; preferred the outline, forequarter development and movement of 1. Has good bone but would prefer stronger pasterns as she tends to stand a little east/west and paddles somewhat coming towards.
